The view from Canoni area.Corfu or Kerkyra is one of the few places that everyone who chooses Greece for vacations wishes to visit.
The eye-catching scenery along with the amazing sandy beaches and the unique sights have declaired Corfu as the "Princess of the Ionian" and one of top favourite tourist destinations in Europe.

Corfu town. The capital of the island is also called Kerkyra or Corfu town.
It is built on a promontory and is a medley of many occupying influences,
which involved Francs, Venetians and British.

The old fortress. The city of Corfu offers many different and interesting places such as the two Venetians fortresses (the Old and the New) where the visitor will enjoy a panoramic view from the airy heights of the Old Fortress. On the broad green expanse separating the Old Fortress from the rest of the town is the Esplanade where marching bands parade and festive occasions are celebrating.
The Liston area. The elegant arcades of the Liston, built by the French and modelled on Paris' rue de Rivoli, border the west side of the Esplanade with many cafes and bars. And of course the Old Town, or Campiello, a facinating maze of tall houses, narrow streets, steep stairways and arched alleys. This is the genuine taste of Corfu and a good opportunity to take a souvenir back home from the multiple shops of local art of the Old town.

"The city was Venetian until 1780...nearest the sea there is the most beautiful esplanade in the world" Edward Lear 1848.

The old fortress from airplane. But Corfu is not only the city.
There are many attractions like the Achilleion or the Angelokastro just to name a few. The countryside on the other hand, full of colors and scents of nature waiting to be discovered.
And of course the beautiful pebble and sandy beaches that fill the island from the northest to the most south tip and promise an unforgettable vacation.
